Rare photographs of Beatles' iconic Shea Stadium concert performance to go under the hammer
Show all 12March 22 will be the fiftieth anniversary of the release of The Beatles' first LP, Please Please Me, in 1963, the point in time that Philip Larkin used to mark the definite beginning of sexual intercourse in Britain. (It was sometime before then, but after the end of the Chatterly ban, in 1960.)
Come the day, however, we will be remembering the works of Fab Four, seen in these rare photographs taken by amateur photographer Marc Weinstein during their iconic Shea Stadium performance in August 1965 in New York.
There are part of a collection of 61 pictures due be sold as part of a one-off Beatles auction in Stockport on the anniversary date. The collection of images are estimated to sell for around £15,000 when they go under the hammer.
