Why I love: A good night's sleep

My latest crush is my new memory foam mattress. I've had it for about a fortnight and I had never before appreciated how euphoric a good mattress can make you feel.

Our old mattress was cheap and had springs where no springs should be. I did some research and invested in a memory foam mattress and I have never slept so well. It's like sitting in a bag of comfortable sand. You feel extraordinarily cocooned and cosy. It arrived vacuum-packed and let's just say the unnatural smell is fading.

I sleep in a lot of hotel rooms, singing all over the world, and finally my home mattress is better than a hotel one. What is it actually made of? I have no idea. Wonderment and magical particles. It was quite an investment – thousands, not hundreds of pounds – but I'm definitely a nicer person for it.
