Gatecrashing music festivals may not be a new phenomenon – a good example being 1970's Isle of White – but over the past few years organisers have taken more and more precautions to stop punters breaking into their fields.

However, even with a huge wall erected around Finsbury Park officials were unable to prevent dozens from charging through one of their closed gates to gain entry to this weekend’s Wireless Festival.

Security were able to hold off the fierce crowd for a little while but eventually they managed to break through into the grounds just as Lethal Bizzle was performing. Watch the footage below.

"This was an isolated incident that was dealt with quickly where no-one was hurt," a statement made by the festival to the BBC reads.

"The perpetrators were removed on an otherwise hugely successful first day."

"Organisers of Wireless Festival take security very seriously and work closely with ShowSec Security, local police and other agencies to put procedures in place to ensure the event maintains an enjoyable and secure environment for all its customers."

Later on the Metreoplotitan police tweeted out saying “Great atmosphere in Wireless Festival today. Our officers are deployed throughout the area. One arrest so far.”

Stand-out performances so far this year have come from the likes of Drake, Avicii, Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino, while David Guetta and Nicki Minaj are set to conclude the festival.
