Glastonbury 2014: Ed Balls urges electorate to watch 'brilliant' Dolly Parton set immediately
Shadow Chancellor was a surprise fan among the thousands of people watching the singer's set
Try to imagine Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls ardently singing the words to Dolly Parton’s "Jolene", because that more than likely just happened.
The Labour politician is one of a few high profile Twitter users who have taken to the social media site to declare their admiration for the legendary singer.
Dolly Parton performed on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury this afternoon, surprising fans with a rendition of Bon Jovi’s "Lay Your Hands on Me" with the band’s guitarist Richie Sambora.
Balls praised Parton’s set and said that her finale encore was “brilliant,” before imploring voters (and/or Twitter followers) to get onto BBC2 and watch reruns of it if they had missed it.
He told the electorate: "Dolly Parton at Glastonbury - what a set - brilliant finale encore - if you missed it on Red Button, watch it on BBC2 shortly."
More stars waded in to show their support of the country and western singer, who sparkled on set with classic hits such as Jolene and 9 to 5.
