US recording artist Rihanna resumes the top spot in the Last.fm singles chart the week of December 5 for her hit track "Only Girl (In the World). Singer, rapper, and record producer Kanye West slips in the rankings, while American pop star Katy Perry holds her own with tunes from her album
Teenage Dream. New this week: French house DJ duo Daft Punk enters the top ten.
Guy-Manuel de Homen-Christo and Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk released their much-hyped soundtrack to TRON: Legacy, the sequel to 1982's Tron, on December 7. Since, the soundtrack's lead single "Derezzed" jumped 127 spots into eighth position with 21,897 listeners. Also, the song "The Grid" advances 118 spots into tenth place with 21,700 listeners. Renowned internationally as electronic music innovators, the duo has received two Grammy Awards and seven nominations.
Released November 22, West's fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, has reached number one on album charts in the US and Canada. While West dominated the Last.fm chart the past two weeks, only two of the album's tracks remain in this week's top ten. "Dark Fantasy" is in the second slot with 29,424 listeners, and "All of the Lights" drops into fourth place with 28,807 listeners.

Available in 12 languages, the site's radio service is free for users in the UK, the US, and Germany; elsewhere, a subscription costs €3.00 per month. Using a system called "scrobbling," Last.fm's charts measure everything its users listen to through the Last.fm website as well as hundreds of other music sites and services, including iTunes, Spotify, and The Hype Machine.
