American actor Jamie Foxx is set to host the Michael Jackson tribute concert planned for October 8 in Wales.
Announced Monday, the Oscar-winning star of Ray will host the Michael Jackson Forever Tribute Concert, featuring singers Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Motown legend Smokey Robinson at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in Wales.
Foxx, who has previously collaborated with rap star Kanye West and released four albums of his own, will also perform at the event.
Beyoncé is scheduled to perform a live satellite performance at the event as well, but rumors have been swirling for days that the pop star may pull out due to her pregnancy. The Millennium Stadium has a 74,500 capacity, and the concert will be broadcast to 30 countries in both 2D and 3D. Stay tuned to the event website for details or to purchase tickets.
Also honoring the King of Pop, Montreal's famed Cirque du Soleil troupe of acrobatic performers will debut Michael Jackson The Immortal. The event launches in Cirque's hometown Montreal on October 2 and will travel to 47 cities around North America through July 17 in a splashy tribute filled with Jackson's music and iconic moves. Organizers announced that the show will tour the rest of the globe, but dates and details are not yet available. Stay tuned to the event website for tickets and details.
