Montreal-based indie band Arcade Fire is the most blogged musical act of the moment on The Hype Machine on May 31, having recently announced that its new album
The Suburbs, the follow-up to 2007's
Neon Bible, will be released August 3. Rapper Kanye West and synth-pop artist Wild Nothing are in second and third.
The superstar and often controversial rapper Kanye West is in the blogs following the online leak of his song "Power," the rapper's first new track since 2008. Featuring soul singer Dwele, the track is due out officially on June 8, reportedly as the first single from upcoming album Good Ass Job. "Power," says Viva la Mainstream (vivalamainstream.wordpress.com), "takes time to address his absence and his failures, all while spitting fire at those who took aim at him during his time out."
Wild Nothing is the solo project of Jack Tatum, who previously performed with the punk act Facepaint. The artist has just released his debut album, Gemini, and bloggers are sharing the upbeat track "Chinatown." Everybody Taste (www.everybodytaste.com) describes Wild Nothing's sound: "catchy and bittersweet 1980s-inspired synth-pop disguised in low-fidelity swells of cloudy effects and reverb."
