British band Gorillaz remains the hottest topic in the blogosphere since the release of a viral video of the band performing a stripped-down version of The xx's "Crystalised" on BBC's Live Lounge. According to The Hype Machine, other top bands on November 24 include Atlas Sound, the side project of indie-band Deerhunter's lead singer, and Melbourne-based Cut Copy.
In third place in the day's top ten is Atlas Sound, the solo music project of Bradford Cox, the lead singer and guitarist of the US psychedelic band Deerhunter. He just released two new sets of recordings, Bedroom Data Bank Vols. 1 and II, on his Deerhunter blog. "He doesn't stray too far from the fuzzed-out sound of his main band, but he does take some detours," writes Cover Me (covermesongs.com).
Cut Copy began in 2001 as the synth-pop project of Australian DJ and graphic designer Dan Whitford. Bloggers are circulating two tracks from the band's upcoming and third album, Zonoscope, due out on February 8. "Neither song has so far been able to match the pure catchiness and dancability of my favorite tracks from their last album," writes blogger The New Montreal (thenewmontreal.com), "but I'll hold off judgment until the album is actually released."
