British rapper M.I.A. continues to be the most blogged act on The Hype Machine on April 28. After releasing a single, "Born Free," and an accompanying video, the artist has shared a tentative track listing for her forthcoming album and is accepting suggestions for a title. Toronto electronic act Crystal Castles and South West London group The xx are in second and third place.
Marina and the Diamonds (real name Marina Lambrini Diamandis) is a Welsh singer-songwriter who rose to fame after reaching number two on the BBC Sound of 2010 poll. She was most recently in the blogs following the release of her debut full-length album, The Family Jewels, on February 22. A remix of a track from that album, "I Am Not a Robot," has been produced by London quartet Clock Opera, and that new version is now being passed around the blogosphere.
American electronic musician Tobacco, who fronts the band Black Moth Super Rainbow in addition to his solo work, is set to released Maniac Meat on May 25. The album's first single, "Sweatmother," was released earlier this month, and now a second track is out. "Fresh Hex" is reportedly one of two tracks on the album that features Beck. Kick Kick Snare (kickkicksnare.com) calls the new track a "minute and thirty-five seconds of pure sex driven funk."
