American indie rock band The National holds the number one spot as the music blogosphere's hottest act according to The Hype Machine on March 21. Canadian electronic music duo MSTRKRFT moves into second place, while London-born singer and songwriter Jamie Woon drops to third.
Hailing from Toronto, MSTRKRFT (pronounced "Master-craft") just released the first single, "Beards Again" from their forthcoming yet-to-be-titled third LP. "It starts off trite, like most house songs," writes blogger Melophobe (www.melophobe.com), "but shortly MSTRKRFT reveals their prowess in the form of distorted power chords and chugging breakdowns."
Up-and-coming singer-songwriter Woon has been a hot topic in the blogs since the release of the track "Lady Luck," from his upcoming debut LP Mirrorwriting, set to be released April 11. "He has an incredible voice that flourishes with his dark sexy beats," writes blogger We All Want Someone to Shout For (www.weallwantsomeone.org). "You could call his music dubstep but you can also call it electronic."
