American rap star Lil Wayne plans to debut his new album, which leaked online on August 24, after his performance on the MTV Video Music Awards at the stroke of midnight on August 29. Also coming up, American rock-funk band Red Hot Chili Peppers make a comeback with their tenth album,
I'm With You, and a live broadcast.

This album will be Lil Wayne's fourth in his Tha Carter series and features Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Corey Gunz, and T-Pain. Red Hot Chili Peppers live stream, new album

American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers are broadcasting a live performance of their upcoming tenth album, I'm With You, in select theaters around the globe on August 30. The Isle of Wight’s Bestival, an annual event since 2004, remains one of the best-known UK festivals despite its smaller size - about 55,000 people in 2010. The gathering is called a "boutique" festival for its alternative acts and notably non-corporate feel. U2 and Pearl Jam documentaries premiere

Rockmentary fans are in luck with the release of two new documentaries at this year's Toronto International Film Festival. The world premiere of a documentary on Irish rockers U2, From the Sky Down, directed by Davis Guggenheim, who earned an Oscar for his documentary An Inconvenient Truth, will headline the festival on September 8. Also American rockers Pearl Jam are premiering their Cameron Crowe-helmed documentary Pearl Jam Twenty, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the band's debut album, Ten.

Nirvana's ‘Nevermind' reissue

Nevermind, considered one of the greatest albums of the 1990s, turns 20 on September 24. To celebrate, the band's label, Universal, is reissuing the album as a four-CD set featuring unreleased recordings. The set will also include one DVD featuring BBC radio appearances and unreleased concerts, and the CDs will feature B-sides and rarities. The deluxe package hits stores on September 19 in the UK and September 20 in the US. Nevermind was the Seattle band's breakthrough album and first album to feature drummer Dave Grohl, who later formed the Foo Fighters.

Returning to the city of its birth for the first time in a decade, Rock in Rio kicks off September 23 and is set to feature more than 200 global artists and Brazilian stars. Among the acts taking the stage are Katy Perry, Jay-Z, Metallica, Coldplay, Rihanna, Elton John, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Motorhead, Slipknot, Lenny Kravitz, Shakira, Mana, Evanescence and Guns N' Roses. The series's first concert extravaganza was held in Rio over 10 days in January 1985, and by drawing 1.4 million people it is believed to be the largest rock festival in the world. The next editions were in 1991 and 2001, before the series ventured overseas, with several Rock in Rio concerts held in Lisbon and Madrid.

iHeartRadio Music Festival

American media conglomerate Clear Channel will hold the first iHeartRadio Music Festival at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 23 and 24. The two-day event will be hosted by American television star Ryan Seacrest and feature major acts including Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Black Eyed Peas, David Guetta, and Bruno Mars, among others. Tickets reportedly sold out in 10 minutes, but you can enter a drawing for a chance to win tickets, or stream the festival live via iHeartRadio.com and the iHeart Radio mobile app for the event, available for download for US residents only. It is unclear at this point whether or not the Internet live stream will be available for music fans outside of the US but stay tuned to the website as more information becomes available.

Björk: ‘Biophilia’

Famed Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk's Biophilia is her eighth solo studio album and includes iPad app suite featuring interactive programs for the album's tracks. Also part of the Biophilia project is a traveling exhibition showcasing unusual instruments, including a three-meter pendulum that doubles as a bass. This summer, Björk and her musical collaborators performed Biophilia at the Manchester International Festival, and she is set to play Bestival on September 11, as well as eight shows in Iceland this fall. More dates will likely be announced. For Björk super-fans, an "ultimate edition" of the album will be available for $800, featuring "black uncoated board wallets" and a "silkscreened oak hinged-lid case for the album." In addition to CD and vinyl editions, a book version of the album will be available as a 48-page, full-color hardbound with artsy features, including a foil-blocked spine and back cover.
