Ariana Grande named Billboard Woman of the Year

Ariana Grande has teased out her next single, which was inspired by a “rough” day in New York City and a memorable trip to luxury jeweller Tiffany&Co.

The singer announced on Thursday that she would release “7 Rings” on 18 January.

She shared an image of the single’s artwork, featuring a pink door with the song’s title tagged onto it in black letters.

Her accompanying message consists simply of seven diamond ring emoji with the date: “1.18.”

Grande, who has already released the singles “Thank U, Next“ and “Imagine” ahead of the debut of her fifth studio album, has previously detailed the anecdote behind “7 Rings”.

She discussed the track in an exchange with a fan on Twitter back in December, writing: “Well ............. ‘twas a pretty rough day in NYC.

“My friends took me to Tiffany’s. We had too much champagne. I bought us all rings.

“It was very insane and funny.”

Grande then explained that her friend, singer Njomza, was the one who suggested the trip to the jewellery store should be turned into a song.

“And on the way back to the stu Njomza was like ‘B****, this gotta be a song lol’. So we wrote it that afternoon,” Grande added.
