Aziz Ansari stars in Eric Wareheim’s suitably bizarre music video for Kanye West’s ‘Famous’

'Goddamn!'

Eric Wareheim has posted a music video for Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo track ’Famous’, which sees himself and Aziz Ansari cavorting on the streets of Rome and enjoying local delicacies.

Though Wareheim - one half of genius comedy duo Tim & Eric - is a legit music video director now, having worked on official music videos for Major Lazer, Charli XCX, Beach House, Flying Lotus, MGMT and more, it’s safe to say this one probably isn’t Kanye-approved.

Update 28/4: It is now!

“Eric [Wareheim] uploaded it on his own YouTube channel with the help of JASH, a comedy collective that he helped found, when Kanye agreed to have it be the official music video for the song," a rep said.

Seemingly shot on iPhone, the video sees the pair goofing off I imagine in between filming season 2 of Netflix series Masters of None, in which they both star.

There’s plenty of Wareheimian surrealism in there, including several slo-mo’s of Aziz eating pasta and some picture-in-picture shots.

Earlier this week, Kanye laid down a new freestyle during a concert in Manila, in which he repeatedly declared: “I don’t want to be liked”.
