Beyoncé and Lady Gaga unite for "Video Phone" clip
American pop singers Beyoncé and Lady Gaga have united for American director Hype Williams' music video to "Video Phone," according to MTV News. The eighth single from Beyoncé's 2008 double album I Am...Sasha Fierce, "Video Phone" hits stores November 10, and its video was recently filmed by Williams in Brooklyn, New York. Though the original version of "Video Phone" does not feature Lady Gaga, the video version features the two pop stars trading verses with one another in a remix of the song.
Argentina stages Record Store Night to boost music sales
Argentina's Chamber of Record Producers has organized the first annual Record Store Night for October 22 in Buenos Aires in order to boost music sales, according to music trade publication Billboard. Record stores throughout Buenos Aires will closer at later hours, provide discounts and feature select live performances. Developed between the Chamber of Record Producers and Argentina's ministries of culture and economical development, Record Store Night is also an attempt to counter recent trends in online music shopping.
Premios MTV Latinoamérica awards Wisin Y Yandel, Panda, Calle 13 top honors
The eighth annual Premios MTV Latinoamérica, the Latin American version of the MTV Video Awards in the US, presented Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Wisin y Yandel with top honors Thursday October 15. Wisin y Yandel were initially received six nominations, eventually winning both Artist of the Year and Video of the Year (for "Abusadora"). Other major winners at the Los Angeles, California event included another Puerto Rican reggaeton duo, Calle 13, who won a Lengua statue for Best Urban Artist; Mexican rock act Panda, winners of Best Alternative Artist and Best Group or Duo.
