Chris Evans has succeeded in angering Adele fans worldwide after confusing the “Hello” singer with Beyonce.

The Radio 2 presenter was interviewing the British songwriter live on air when he randomly began asking about the famous Sasha Fierce, otherwise known as Beyonce’s performing alter-ego.

Adele, who releases her third album 25 on 20 November, was left baffled after Evans said: “I love this stage persona you have to get over your nerves, what's her name again?”

Unfortunately, as we all cringed into our cereal, Evans kept plodding on. “So who’s Sasha Fierce?” he pressed after she said “No”, until Adele laughed hysterically and informed him that he was talking about Bey.

Listeners quickly picked up on the cringeworthy error, with many lambasting Evans for failing to do his research before speaking with such a high-profile artist.

Adele dropped “Hello” and its accompanying video this morning. It is her first new single since James Bond theme “Skyfall” in 2012.

“I obviously want people to like it,” she told Nick Grimshaw on BBC Radio 1 this morning. “When I wrote it I knew this would be the first thing everyone heard from me. I want to surprise people. I don’t want to say something for the sake of it.”

Chris Evans' publicist is yet to respond to our request for comment.
