Grammys 2020 ceremony criticised for leaving Keith Flint and others out of in memoriam clip

Prodigy frontman died in March 2019

The Grammys have come under fire for leaving Keith Flint and other artists out of the in memoriam clip broadcast during the ceremony.

Flint died in March last year, meaning many were expecting to see him among the personalities eulogised in the traditional video.

But the Prodigy frontman didn’t get acknowledged in the segment – a fact that some viewers criticised on social media.

Also absent from the slide-show were Scott Walker, David Berman, Bushwick Bill, Robert Hunter, Mark Hollis, and Ranking Roger.

Viewers also noticed a couple of spelling mistakes in the video: The Cars’ Ric Ocasek’s first name was spelled “Rick”, while Spanish singer Camilo Sesto’s first name was erroneously written “Camile”.

A longer in memorial list published on the Grammys’ website includes Flint, Walker, Berman, Bill, Hunter, Hollis and Roger.

Ocasek and Sesto’s names are spelled correctly on that list too.

The Independent has contacted the Recording Academy for comment.

Sunday’s ceremony was dominated by tributes to Kobe Bryant, just a few hours after the NBA icon died in a helicopter crash.

The late rapper Nipsey Hussle, who won two posthumous awards, was also remembered in a special homage.
