Harry Styles co-writes song with John Legend in first solo One Direction move

Styles is reported to have penned a track for X Factor USA duo Alex and Sierra

One Direction’s Harry Styles has branched out from his role as the pop group’s “curly-haired one” to co-write a song with John Legend.

Styles is reported to have penned the “beautiful and lovely” track with Legend for X Factor USA duo Alex and Sierra’s debut album.

“Harry is actually an amazing writer, he’s pitched us a few other good ones and they’re really good,” The Mirror reports Sierra as saying.

Lyrics to the song, the title of which is unknown, are thought to read: “I saw your face/ I heard your name/ Felt the blood rushing through my veins/ If you remember/ How could I forget?”

Styles is thought to have written 18 more as-yet-unheard songs, with music mogul Simon Cowell praising Alex and Sierra's debut album on Twitter.

The singer is also believed to have joined forces with Dan Layus of US indie band Augustana fame to work on songs including “I Just Wanna Be Your Man”, “Kiss It Better” and “One Desire”.

Fans of the boyband will be panicking that Styles' solo move could mean an imminent departure for the 20-year-old, as this is the first time that a member of One Direction has worked on an external musical project.

But despite taking a three month hiatus, One Direction insist they have "no intention" of splitting up.

Last Wednesday, One Direction took home two Brit Awards for Global Success and Best British Video, the latter of which was decided by a Twitter vote.

Styles also hit headlines recently after claiming that One Direction were "even bigger" than The Beatles, despite admitting his band "don't stand anywhere near them in terms of music".
