James Brown, Janis Joplin, Beach Boys among Grammy Hall of Fame inductees

The Recording Academy in the United States announced its newest additions to the Grammy Hall of Fame on November 25, adding 25 singles and albums to a list that now includes 851 titles. Inductees for 2010 range from 1923's "Dipper Mouth Blues" by King Oliver & His Jazz Band to 1977's "Birdland" by Weather Report.

Other recordings chosen include Louis Armstrong's "Lazy River," the Beach Boys' "California Girls," James Brown's "It's A Man's Man's Man's World," and George Carlin's Class Clown.

The Grammy Hall Of Fame was established in 1973 to honor American recordings of at least 25 years old that have "lasting qualitative or historical significance." Inductees are chosen by a committee of recording arts professionals, with final approval made by The Recording Academy Trustees.
