Kanye West has released some of the most critically applauded albums of the last decade, but rather than celebrate ten years since the much loved Late Registration, he’s decided to show his love for another, much more divisive album: 808s & Heartbreak.

Seven years on from its release and Mr West has announced a one-off show performing the album in its entirety.

According to Consequence of Sound, the performance will take place on the 25 September, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

Upon its release, 808s was heavily criticised by fans for its heavy use of auto-tune and wildly different production to previous West outings. Gone were the James Brown samples, and instead the minimalistic sound of the Roland 808 drum machine.

Once the album was released, however, it became a commercial and somewhat critical success, having a major impact on the hip hop world.

Contemporary Jay-Z cited the album as helping him move into more experimental territory with The Blueprint 3, while artists Frank Ocean, The Weeknd and Drake have all been influenced by the more introspective and personal content of the album. Rolling Stone included it in their 40 Most Groundbreaking Albums of All Time.
