Michael Jackson's daughter Paris 'fine' in Los Angeles hospital after apparent suicide attempt on fourth anniversary of father's death

Ambulance was called out to 15-year-old to deal with 'possible overdose'

Michael Jackson’s 15-year-old daughter, Paris, is physically fine after been hospitalised in Los Angeles after an apparent suicide attempt, according to a lawyer for the late singer's mother.

The late King of Pop’s middle child reportedly left her home in Calabasas, California, in an ambulance in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The Los Angeles County Fire Department confirmed that paramedics had responded to a 911 call “regarding a possible overdose” at 1.27am. Jackson is expected to make a full recovery.

Perry Sanders, who represents Katherine Jackson, declined to comment on the circumstances that led to Paris being taken into hospital, but said she was getting appropriate medical attention and that the family was seeking privacy.

"Being a sensitive 15 year old is difficult no matter who you are," he said. "It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you. Paris is physically fine and is getting appropriate medical attention. Please respect her privacy and the family's privacy."

Several hours previously, the teen had posted a pair of cryptic tweets: “I wonder why tears are salty?” and a mournful lyric from the Beatles song, “Yesterday”: “Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away… now it looks as though they’re here to stay.”

This month marks the fourth anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death, and the family is currently engaged in a messy court battle for compensation with AEG Live, the concert promoters who were working with the star at the time of his death. However, Entertainment Tonight quoted a source close to the family, who said the reason for Paris’s attempted suicide was that she had been forbidden to attend a Marilyn Manson concert taking place in Los Angeles on Thursday evening. Her mother, Debbie Rowe, told Entertainment Tonight that Jackson had “a lot going on.”

Rowe and her daughter are said to have rekindled their relationship recently after years of estrangement following Rowe’s divorce from Michael Jackson in 1999. They celebrated the teenager’s 15th birthday together last month. Rowe’s laywer Eric George said, “We appreciate everyone’s thoughts for Paris at this time and their respect for the family’s privacy.”
