Most blogged artists: jj, Grizzly Bear, Ellie Goulding

On Monday, the most blogged artists of the moment according to The Hype Machine are Swedish pop group jj, Texas band Spoon, and South London group The xx. Also making the top ten are Brooklyn indie rock band Grizzly Bear and British singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding.

Grizzly Bear formed in the early 2000s and has gained recognition from the music media with the releases of Horn of Plenty, Yellow House, and 2009's Veckatimest, which blog Musical Pairings (www.musicalpairings.com) named the best album of 2009. The band is in the blogs Monday after having performed a version of Hot Chip's "Boy From School" on Australian radio. The blog Music Fans Mic (musicfansmic.tumbler.com) said of the track, "...in their rather unexpected cover of Hot Chip...they turn a well-matured electronic song into a beautiful folk-drama of perfect minor chords and tearjerking melancholy."

Twenty-three-year-old singer/songwriter/guitarist Ellie Goulding, who just won the 2010 BRIT Critics' Choice Award, released her newest single, "Starry Eyed," on January 20. Both the original single and several DJs remixes are in the blogs. Sheena Beaston (sheenabeaston.typepad.com) says of the singer, "One of our 'Beasts to Watch in 2010' is the endearingly talented Ellie Goulding. With a mix of pixied vocals and the stellar production of Starsmith backing her, there's no doubt she'll reap the rewards of her efforts over the past few months." Goulding's debut CD Lights is due out March 1.
