Reading and Leeds Festivals booking agent Jon McIldowie has hinted at a secret set from a big band.

"We always get calls about a month before the festival from bands saying, 'You know how we said we didn't want to play your festival, well now we're available and we really do,'" he told XFM earlier this week.

"I've had about seven of those this year, including a couple from bands that are arena acts who want to do secret shows or do last-minute things."

When asked if any of these acts will end up being added to the lineup, he remained tight-lipped as to who it would be – “It’s going to be a surprise.”

Back in 2012, US rock legends Green Day performed a surprise, and ultimately secret, set for festivalgoers.

The trio's hour-long early morning set awas dubbed one of the festival's most historic sets.

This year's acts include Arctic Monkeys, Jake Bugg, Blink 182, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Queens of the Stone Age and Paramore.

Blink 182 have already started hinting at their setlist for the festival, after playing a career-spanning 23-track show at their first of two warm up shows in Brixton on Tuesday night.

Songs included favourites “I Miss You” and “What’s My Age Again?” and they play their second and final warm up show tonight.

As of earlier this week, tickets for both Reading and Leeds festival (22-24th August) were put back online, and are available now.
