Security tightened as Eagles of Death Metal return to Paris to 'finish' Bataclan gig

Eagles of Death Metal, who performed at the Bataclan the night of the Paris attacks have returned to 'finish' the gig, which takes place Tuesday 16 February.

The American rock group were on stage when armed terrorists stormed the venue and killed 87 people as part of a series of co-ordinated attacks across the French Capital on 13 November. Isis later claimed responsibility for the massacre.

The sold-out concert will be attended by many of the survivors of the massacre, as well as relatives of its victims. "To me it was obvious that this gig needed to be finished and the right way this time," survivor Lydia Berkennou, 27, told Sky News. "It will help me move forward and it is a big step, one thing that may help me close the door behind me. Some of us, can (still) hear the bullets, the sound, the smell, the view - every time I see something bloody the images come back."

The concert will take place at the Olympia venue in Paris; a few miles from the Bataclan, which remains closed. Doors will open early to allow survivors extra time before the gig begins, and extra medical assistance will be on hand during the evening. Extremely tight security is also expected for the night.

Eagles of Death Metal are currently on their Nos Amis (Our Friends) European Tour, having played in Stockholm on Saturday 13 February.

Jesse Hughes, the band's frontman, earlier told a reporter that "everyone should have access" to guns, and that the attacks did not change his stance on the issue.
