Fans blamed 11pm live music curfews

The Rolling Stones didn’t finish their 50 anniversary tour concert with “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” as planned last night, leading fans to blame a local curfew at the 02.

The ageing rockers had intended to perform their 1965 hit as a finale to their two and a half hour gig but dropped it after the gig overran.

The band, frontman Sir Mick Jagger, 69, guitarists Keith Richards, 68, Ronnie Wood, 65, and drummer Charlie Watts, 71, performed together live last night for the first time since 2007 to mark five decades in the music industry.

They were watched by 20,000 fans at the North Greenwich venue and were joined by former members Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor for the first time in more than 20 years.

But the concert, scheduled to begin at 8pm, did not start until half past.

Jagger was heard to warn his bandmates to “get a move on” towards the end of the show, which ended on “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” rather than “Can’t Get No”.

Fans took to Twitter to express frustration that the hit was missed off.

Leo Blanchard wrote: “The Rolling Stones dropped Satisfaction from their O2 set because of an 11pm curfew. Wow.”

TraceSenior, tweeted: “Rolling Stones couldn't get any satisfaction last night because of O2 curfew. No because it was time for their bed time and cocoa.”

In July Bruce Springstreen fell foul of Westminster Council after an outdoor gig overran curfew regulations and organisers pulled the plug before the end to "comply with the licence" on live music at Hyde Park. The "Born To Run" singer had just been joined on stage by Paul McCartney when the concert abruptly ended.

A spokesman for the Rolling Stones today denied the strict 11pm live music curfew in place around the 02 Arena was the reason "Satisfaction" was missed off.

"The band decide what they want to play on stage. It had nothing to do with curfews," he told the Telegraph.
