Originally available solely as a charitable download last year, Dirty Projectors' collaboration with Björk finally receives a physical release, a welcome compensation for those who, like me, found her own Biophilia a touch too amorphous to enjoy.

Inspired by a sighting of whales off Point Reyes in California, David Longstreth's song-cycle is brought vividly to life by his fellow Projectors – particularly the vocal arrangements performed by Amber Coffman, Angel Deradoorian and Haley Dekle. With Björk and Longstreth sharing lead vocals, and instrumental contributions pared back to just a few drones and pulses, the result is a fascinating evocation of Orcan existence, implicitly acknowledging the entire planet as a home.
