Three of the most impressive artists of 2007 combine in a trio that avoids all the usual associations of superstar bands in favour of an entirely unforced and genuine collaboration. Over 15 tracks, including Jobim, Charles Trenet and a Galliano arrangement of Ravel as well as originals, Fresu's pure-voiced trumpet and flugel, the marvellously reedy sonorities of Galliano's accordion and Lundgren's impeccably restrained piano (a Fazioli) combine to produce transcendently beautiful, light and airy music. By the end, you're beginning to miss bass and drums, but it's taken an hour to get there.
