Album: Philip Clemo, The Rooms, (All Colour Arts)
"Rock" is a nominal appellation. It's rock in the way that both Talk Talk and Miles Davis's 'In a Silent Way' were rock: electronic in texture, loose in structure, ambiently atmospheric and, above all things, still.
So it's not rock like Chuck Berry. It also contrives to be meditative without selling its soul to the new age guru or its musicality to the gods of technique. Clemo is a guitarist, but you'd never know. The centre of the music is the sound of musicians listening. Worth hearing.
Pick of the Album: 'The Place': go there, be at one with creation etc etc
