If ever an album begged not to be judged by its opening track, this is it.

Those drawn in by that jaunty, horns-parping mis-step will wonder what the hell's happening thereafter, while those who love everything else here will be unticking that box on their iTunes faster than you can say "Import CD". Matthew Houck's fifth LP as Phosphorescent is (that first song aside) uniformly excellent: a must for those who love Iron & Wine, Neil Young, Dylan's radio show and Gene Clark, whose classic No Other this resembles in its finer moments.
