This 2008 show in Switzerland isn't the last great concert Solomon Burke actually performed – 2010's Jazz Cafe set was pretty stupendous – but it is undeniably entertaining.

It's a typical mix of smouldering Southern soul, swinging r'n'b, rock'n'roll and country-soul. There are beautiful, tender versions of "A Change Is Gonna Come" and "Don't Give Up on Me", the late career classic that best illustrates Burke's enduring quality, and country and rock'n'roll medleys that squeeze every last drop of power from his big, imposing band.
