Album: Tom Waits, Glitter & Doom Live (Anti-)
Seventeen songs lifted from 10 different venues on last year's US and European tours, and by no means a greatest hits.
In fact, typically, there is nothing remotely resembling a hit on it. Instead, we excurse into the outlands of the Waits catalogue propelled by a filthy sextet intent on chugging so low they cut a groove in the floor.
There's a second disc of Tom talking. And if the whole package reeks a little of self-congratulation, that doesn't mean the old mule hasn't got something to congratulate himself over. Harsh but rockin'.
