Psychedelic wig-outs from the vaults of Detroit's Westbound Records, which was established in 1968.

The label was home to George Clinton's band Funkadelic, whose killer single "I'll Bet You" opens this inspired and bizarre compilation. But Funkadelic sound rather normal compared to the Ohio Players' "Funky Worm" or June's "Suzie Thundertussy". Sexy soul from Denise LaSalle and the Detroit Emeralds and grandiose disco by Mike Theodore and the Clark Sisters continue the story.

Pick of the album: The Clark Sisters' 'You Brought the Sunshine (Into My Life)'
