While CSS's self-titled first album considered pop culture ("Meeting Paris Hilton" is loved by every crowd that hears it), their follow-up, Donkey, addresses typical second-album issues, such as the problems that the band have had on their way to fame.

From aggressive, pushy managers (hence the album's name) to losing a member in transit, their follow-up lays it all out for us to gorge on.

The music could be described as more mainstream these days – although it still has a nutty, edgy feel. But never mind what they sound like in the studio. Can CSS still deliver their special brand of on-stage ecstasy for their second album tour? Lead singer Lovefoxxx (Luisa Su) is known for her sparkly one-pieces and stage diving but does the new more mature-sounding Donkey leave room for her antics? Silly question.

Despite not wearing her trademark sequinned jumpsuit, Lovefoxxx didn't disappoint visually and was dressed like the love-child of the monster from The Village and the ghost from The Grudge, slathered in gluey glitter. It was almost impossible to tear your eyes away from her to check out what the rest of the CSS were doing, but rest assured they were twanging around just as happily.

CSS have wisely clung on to hits from their debut, such as "Let's Make Love", and have managed to mingle songs from the two albums seamlessly, showing that they haven't left the sound that has won them many faithful fans. By the time we got to "Music is My Hot Hot Sex" and "Give Up", the whole audience was pogo-ing its heart out. For CSS to get a response out of a crowd like this on a Monday night is proof that these musicians are nothing if not first class entertainers who are always eager to please.
