American singer, songwriter, composer and actor Tom Waits tweeted on February 25 that he is in the studio working on what will be his 31st album.

The tweet, on his official Twitter page, reads: "Good News! Tom is currently in the studio working on his next album. Stay tuned."

This will be Waits' first album since Glitter and Doom Live, released in 2009. Prior to that album, he released his 2006 three-disc collection Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards, which earned a Grammy nomination. No release date for the new LP has been announced.

Waits recently played alongside Denzel Washington in the film The Book of Eli and is currently working on a new stage musical with director and long-time collaborator Robert Wilson and playwright Martin McDonagh.

He will also be inducted this year in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 14. He has won Grammy Awards for two albums, Bone Machine and Mule Variations.
