American singer Barbra Streisand's jazz standards album
Love Is the Answer makes a suprising US début at no.1 for the week of October 9. The American rock band Paramore scores a UK no.1 album with their third studio album,
Brand New Eyes. America scores three for three with American pop star Madonna ruling the European chart for a second week with the greatest hits collection
Celebration.
In Europe, Streisand's Love Is the Answer comes in at no.7 (while entering the UK chart's top 5 at no.4), and Paramore's Brand New Eyes make a splash at no.3. South African singer Howard Carpendale brings up the rear at no.10 with his latest German-language album, Stark.
English singers Newton Faulkner and Ian Brown enter the UK chart with Rebuilt by Humans (no.3) and My Way (no.8), respectively. Across the Atlantic, the US Billboard 200 welcomes Paramore (no.2); American pop star Mariah Carey's Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel (no.3); American rock band Breaking Benjamin's Dear Agony (no.4); American rock band Alice in Chains' Black Gives Way to Blue (no.5); Madonna's Celebration (no.7); American country singer Miranda Lambert's Revolution (no.8); and American pop group Selena Gomez & the Scene's Kiss and Tell (no.9). The top 10 albums in the US, UK and Europe for the week of October 9 are as follows:
