n The original battle order for the legendary Second World War Dambusters raid was sold at auction yesterday along with a fragment of one of the operation's "bouncing bombs".

The single yellowing sheet of paper was bought at Bonhams for around twice the estimate of pounds 3,000 to pounds 4,000 by a British public institution after fierce competition from four other bidders.

The battle order went for pounds 6,325 and the half-ton bomb fragment went for pounds 1,000 to the same anonymous buyer.
