AS A YOUTH, Sting (right) used to enjoy watching the Newcastle band The Gas Board, which featured not only Bryan Ferry, but also Mike Figgis who many years later directed Sting in Stormy Monday (10pm FilmFour), a moody thriller set in Newcastle.
