Henri Gaudier-Brzeska was one of those romantic and tragic figures whose reputation was assured by dying young and at the height of his talents. His sculpting career lasted just three years, but produced an incredible 80 sculptures (including Figure, 1913, right) and more than 2,000 drawings - an irresistible combination for art historians and especially dealers - a real body of work and the ever-present whiff of what might have been. There was a run of books and exhibitions three years ago to mark the 80th anniversary of his death, and this week London's Mercury Gallery opens a new show which includes 15 previously unseen drawings from a newly discovered sketchbook.

The Mercury Gallery, 26 Cork St, London W1 (0171-734 7800) 21 Oct- 21 Nov
