THE recent advertising campaign for BSkyB boasts the fact that Beverly Hills 90210 is now part of its line-up and announces the approaching two- part serialisation of Andrew Morton's book Diana: Her True Story. Both shows are part of Sky One's gradual facelift: LA Law will be joining the Sky One schedule in March, and The Trials of Rosie O'Neill will follow.

The purchase of Beverly Hills 90210 was eyebrow-raising, as it was a ratings success on ITV. It should not go unnoticed that LA Law and The Trials of Rosie O'Neill were also ITV shows. ITV lost Beverly Hills 90210 because, unike BSkyB, it couldn't meet the asking price. 'We had to think long and hard before we let it go,' says Pat Mahoney, ITV controller of network acquisitions. 'But we wouldn't have passed on it if the price had been reasonable.'

Soon to come on BSkyB, directly following Beverly Hills 90210 in the schedule, is Class of 96 - another teenage drama which, again like Beverly Hills 90210, is produced by Aaron Spelling. Diana: Her True Story is to be shown in two two-hour parts, on 14 and 16 February; the second part will followed by The Royal Debate, a 90-minute discussion to be hosted by Nick Ross.
