Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love (Hampstead, 071- 722 9301). Brad Fraser takes the lid off Edmonton, Alberta, in this brutally elegant, brilliantly cast comedy of sex and death.

Playland (Donmar, 071-867 1150). Superb partnership by John Kani and Sean Taylor in Athol Fugard's first post-apartheid play.

No Man's Land (Comedy, 071-867 1045). Mind-opening revival of Harold Pinter's 1975 masterpiece, featuring Paul Eddington and the author.

An Inspector Calls (Olivier, 071-928 2252). Priestley's old rep favourite reborn as an Expressionist masterpiece.

The Importance of Being Earnest (Aldwych, 071-836 6404). Exquisitely funny revival in which Maggie Smith steals the show.
