A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder took home four awards last night

The big winner at last night’s Tony Awards in New York was A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, which took home four trophies.

British actors Mark Rylance and Sophie Okonedo were also among those honoured for their respective portrayals of Olivia in Twelfth Night and Ruth Younger in A Raisin in the Sun.

Bryan Cranston – best known for playing chemistry teacher turned meth manufacturer in Breaking Bad – won Best Lead Actor in a Play for his role as President Lyndon Johnson in All the Way.

Other winners included Neil Patrick Harris, Jessie Mueller, Lena Hall and James Monroe Iglehart, with Audra McDonald winning Best Lead Actress in a Play to become Tony’s most decorated actress with six wins.

Some 870 Tony voters - members of professional groups such as the Wing, the League, Actors' Equity Association, the Dramatists Guild and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society - decided the final 26 competitive awards.
