The Thickness of Skin

Clare McIntyre's beautifully observed play about kindness and ulterior motives is her first in six years and well worth the wait, particularly in Hettie Macdonald's marvellously acted production.

Royal Court Upstairs, London SW1, 7.45pm (0171-730 2554)

Flesh and Blood

Following the richly moving What I Did in the Holidays, Mike Alfreds directs Philip Osment's latest with the same actors currently playing in Alfreds' bold productions of Private Lives and Jude the Obscure.

Northcott Theatre, Exeter, 7.30pm (01392 493493)
