Disney Junior Channel is looking for a UK educator to join its new council of academic advisors

The Walt Disney Company's Disney Junior Channel is in search of a "visionary" UK educator to join its new council of academic advisors.

The council was formed in the United States in March, to help Disney Junior develop a televisual curriculum for children aged between two and seven and the 10-strong advisory board already counts among its members three Harvard professors: one from the Ivy League university's medical school, one from its Graduate School of Education, as well as the chair of its Folklore and Mythology programme.

The US channel, which launched in the UK last year, boasts such popular titles as Jake and the Never Land Pirates, Jungle Junction and Tales of Friendship with Winnie the Pooh.

The academics' job is to keep the company abreast of teaching trends and to "offer insight into the historical role of storytelling and the use of digital advancements as learning tools".

They won't, however, be expected to pass judgement on individual storylines from The Happy Hugglemonsters.
