Freddie Prinze Jr on 24: 'Kiefer Sutherland was the most unprofessional dude in the world – I hated every moment'

'That's not me talking trash, I'd say it to his face. I think everyone that's worked with him has said that,' he continued

Freddie Prinze Jr had such a heinous time starring opposite Kiefer Sutherland in Season 8 of hit TV series 24, he almost quit the business altogether.

Speaking about his less than favourable experience shooting scenes with the actor at Comic-Con this weekend, the former teen movie idol said he "hated every moment" of filming the TV series.

"I did 24, it was terrible," he told ABC News during his promotional interview for the Disney XD series Star Wars Rebels. "I just wanted to quit the business after that. So, I just sort of stopped."

"Kiefer [Sutherland] was the most unprofessional dude in the world," he continued. "That's not me talking trash, I'd say it to his face. I think everyone that's worked with him has said that."

"I went and worked for [CEO and promoter] Vince McMahon at the WWE, for Christ's sake.

"But, at least he was cool and tall. I didn't have to take my shoes off to do scenes with him, which they made me do [at 24].

Lethal weapon: Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer in the new series of '24'

"Just put the guy on an apple box or don't hire me next time. You know I'm 6 feet and he's 5ft 4ins."

IMDB has other ideas about Sutherland’s height, placing him more in the region of 5ft8ins.

A spokesperson for the actor has since responded to Prinze’s somewhat acerbic comments.

"Kiefer worked with Freddie Prinze, Jr. more than five years ago, and this is the first he has heard of Freddie's grievances," TMZ quoted them as saying.

"Kiefer enjoyed working with Freddie and wishes him the best."

Further smoothing over Prinze’s claims, 24 producers FOX added that they found Kiefer “nothing but professional during the run of the show and is beloved by cast and crew.

"It's so out of left field, five years later," a spokesperson continued. "We wouldn't have done another '24' if Kiefer were anything like Freddie described."

Freddie Prinze JR. will next be voicing the leader Kanan Jarrus in Star Wars Rebels, an animated TV series set to air in October.
