Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber is set to make his first foray into acting with a guest-starring role on the upcoming season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, announced CBS Television on July 22. The sixteen-year-old R&B singer will debut on the season premiere, scheduled to air in the US on September 23.

Bieber will play Jason McCann, a troubled teen who faces a decision regarding his only brother that leads him to confrontation with the CSI unit. The story arc will begin in the season premiere and continue throughout the season, says CBS.

Justin Bieber rose to fame after posting homemade videos of himself on YouTube covering songs by Usher, Ne-Yo and Stevie Wonder. His debut album My World was a top seller in the US, UK, and Canada, making him the youngest male solo artist since 1963 to earn a number one album on the US Billboard 200 chart. My World 2.0 was a top-ten album in more than 20 countries, hitting number one in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Spain, and Brazil, among others.

Bieber's video for "Baby," from My World 2.0, is currently among the most-watched music videos on YouTube with more than 250 million views. Likewise, CSI, now in its 11th season, is said to be the most watched television show in the world.
