Rob Lowe was the subject of a Comedy Central Roast last night, but as many jokes were levelled at roaster Ann Coulter as they were at the roastee.

The panel couldn’t resist aiming most of their one-liners at the conservative political commentator and columnist, with Pete Davidson being particularly brutal.

“Ann describes herself as a polemicist but most people call her a c*nt,” he said. “A racist c*nt. If you are here, Ann, who is scaring the crows away from our crops?”

Rob Lowe later added: “After seeing your set tonight, we’ve seen the first bombing you can’t blame on a Muslim.”

Coulter was also booed by the crowd for the quality of her own jokes.

The roast aired on Labor Day but news of Coulter’s savaging emerged last week. She responded to The Hollywood Reporter: "I have no idea [why she was targeted], but it probably has something to do with Comedy Central's corporate decision to move away from comedy — which is paying huge dividends with the Larry Wilmore and Trevor Noah shows.”

On whether she was fazed by jokes suggesting she kill herself, she added: 'I'm sure there are lots of funny jokes about people dying. These weren't those.

'Nothing offends me. 'Bored me' is a different story.'

Coulter said that she has “no idea” how or why she ended up on the roast, as it just “showed up on (her) book publicity schedule.” During her set, she showed off a copy of her new book, In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!, to groans from the audience.
