Earlier this year, Ant McPartlin checked out of rehab, having become clean of all drugs other than paracetamol for the first time in three years.

The presenter entered the facility after becoming addicted to prescription pain medication following a knee injury two years ago.

After months of social-media silence, McPartlin has finally returned to Twitter, only to post a happy birthday message to co-presenter Declan Donnelly.

"Happy birthday to the little fella from the ever so slightly taller fella!! xxxx #bigdonsbday,” he wrote.

ITV has also confirmed McPartlin will be returning to I’m A Celebrity alongside Donnelly later this year, the show airing this autumn.

Speaking candidly in August, McPartlin detailed his battle with depression and crippling drug abuse that led him to rehab.

“I was at the point where anything – prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs – I would take,” he said. “And take them with alcohol, which is ridiculous. The doctors told me, ‘You could have killed yourself’.” Read his full comments here.
