Jimmy Kimmel interviews Bill Murray in the bath

Bill Murray proved he has lost none of his trademark eccentricity during lockdown, as he recorded a TV interview from his own bathtub.

Clothed from the waist up, Murray appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! via video link, answering questions about quarantine and working with Michael Jordan on the cult film Space Jam.

The Ghostbusters star began the interview with the tub slowly filling up.

“I’m drawing my tub now, and I’m having a little difficulty because getting the right temperature is always a problem for me,” he said.

“For the purposes of today, it’s kind of a celebration, because I haven’t seen you in a while, I thought a bubble bath would be appropriate. But you know how it is with bubbles, you can’t snap your fingers and make them. They just come when they come.”

Viewers expressed their feelings about Murray’s soapy appearance on Twitter, with many finding the stunt hilarious.

“Bill Murray, from his bubble bath, tremendous on Jimmy Kimmel,” wrote one commenter.

“Score one for the stay-at-home policy,” wrote another.

One viewer wrote: “Thanks Bill Murray for helping take our worried minds off the madness with your interview on Jimmy Kimmel last night – in a bathtub.”

Murray has long been associated with eccentric behaviour.

The litany of bizarre and attention-grabbing stories about his interactions with fans formed the basis of a 2018 documentary entitled The Bill Murray Stories: Life Lessons Learned from a Mythical Man.
