Fourteen celebrities are donning the ITV ice rink….again, for the final series of Dancing on Ice.
They impressed before with their pirouettes, backflips and jumps, but now celebritiy ‘show favourites’ have been invited back to perform one more time to boost the final series- and their levels of fame.
Previous winners including Suzanne Shaw, Beth Tweddle and Ray Quinn will take to the rink in early January, joined by past contestants such as Joe Pasquale, Kyran Bracken and Gareth Gates.
ITV announced the show would be ending earlier this year, following a recent slump in TV ratings.
The show’s 2013 final attracted an audience of 6.9 million, down almost five million from its best-ever final of 11.7 million in 2008.
The ninth series will mark 30 years since show regulars Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean won an Olympic gold medal with their famous ‘Bolero’ performance.
Presenter Phillip Schofield said: “Viewers are in for an absolute treat. I’m over the moon we’ll be welcoming back to the ice some of our very best skaters and characters from over the years.”
