David Fincher is returning to the television game with his first Netflix series since House of Cards, signing up Fringe actress Anna Torv to star.

The series will be a crime drama based on the book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit written by John Douglas and Mark Olshanker in 1996. The story follows two agents who interview serial killers in the hope that they'll provide them with assistance in solving their murder cases in 1972.

While Jonathan Groff (HBO's Looking) will star as one of the FBI agents, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Torv - who starred as Olivia Dunham in JJ Abrams' sci-fi series Fringe - will play a psychologist named Wendy.

Not much else is know about Mind Hunter with Fincher electing to keep specific details under wraps.

The show began life at HBO but has since been turned into a Netflix project that'll be produced by the Se7en director as well as actor Charlize Theron.

Fincher has been executive producer of House of Cards since it began in 2013; season four became available to view on Netflix last Friday (4 March).
