Eastenders has teased a dramatic tussle right in the middle of a lake for it's New Years special. And, yes, Danny Dyer is involved in said aquatic battle.

Warring brothers Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) and Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) will see their violent confrontations reach a climax in the upcoming episode, as the pair end up battling for their lives in the waters of a lake nearby the venue for Mick and Linda (Kellie Bright)'s wedding. Though Mick punched Dean right in the face during last episode's stag do, the threat of watery death for one of the brothers does step things up significantly for 2016's first episodes.

Dyer revealed to Digital Spy that he was forced to have his earhole syringed after filming the scene, "I did my own stunts. We went to Pinewood and we did it properly. I've got to say that in some of the scenes in the water I was fighting for my life in real life, because I couldn't quite find the surface!"

Will both brothers Mick and Dean survive this? (BBC)

"We filmed a big epic battle between me and Dean. It's a sad, sad story. He is my brother and it could have all been so different. After we'd done it, I had to have my earhole syringed. There was a lot of lake in my earhole! It was a strange feeling, but we've got to commit as actors, producers and writers."

Dyer added, "It's incredibly heavy. This is the beauty of EastEnders, that it is so dark. We do dark so well. When you have the light-hearted moments that are quite rare, you really relish them. No disrespect to any other soap - Corrie is known for their comedy, we're known for the darkness."

"With the whole Dean thing, people were saying: 'It's dragging on, why hasn't he been arrested?', but this does happen in real life, not just in a soap. I'm just really proud to be part of this show. It's such a powerful show, and with this stuff I think we've took it to another level."

Will the fight outmatch the incredible tension shared between Mick and that goose during their Christmas Day standoff? Eastenders airs next on New Year's Day, 6.30pm and 8pm on BBC One.
